The Marching Band at Dakota High School is one of the largest student organizations on campus with over 100 students involved. The Marching Band consists of students from all concert band levels, as well as the Color Guard Program.
The Marching Band begins preparing for the fall season in early May. Practices increase in frequency leading to Spring Training in June, Mini Camp and Pre-Camp in July, and Marching Band Camp in August. Once school starts, the Marching Band rehearses two to four times per week and performs at pregame and halftime of all home football games. The Marching Band competes in 2-3 Scholastic Competitions (usually on Saturdays), performs in The Great Michigan Parade in Richmond, Michigan, and the America's Thanksgiving Day Parade in Detroit.
MCBA State Championships
In 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023 our Marching Band competed in MCBA (Michigan Competing Bands Association) and performed at the State Finals at Ford Field all three years!
