Meet Our Woodwind and Brass Staff

GARRET KLAUSS

Garret is a dynamic saxophonist from southeast Michigan with a passion for solo and chamber music performance. A prize-winning saxophonist, he has performed at the United States Navy Band Symposium, the BGSU New Music Festival, and the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Saxophone Conference. He was also featured in New Music On The Point’s 10th Anniversary Commissioning Project, where he performed on their first virtually streamed concert. Garret has also worked with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Youth Ensembles as a woodwind mentor, worked as a quartet coach at the Assembly Saxophone Quartet Workshop, and continues to work as a saxophone instructor at both Dakota High School and L’Anse Creuse High School. He holds a Master’s degree from Bowling Green State University and a Bachelor’s degree from Oakland University.

Jacob will be returning for his second year with the Marching Band! He is currently the Band Director at Malow Junior High and has amazing groups of students. He is a passionate musician who loves learning about how things work and how to better perform a musical instrument. His ability to teach different instruments in a highly effective manner is outstanding! Oh yeah, he's also an alumni of Dakota High School!

Brass Caption Head

Eric Bressler is a junior at the University of Michigan, pursuing degrees in Music Education, Trumpet Performance, and Musicology. He has spent the last three summers marching with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps (‘18, ‘19) and the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps (‘20). Eric became passionate for the marching arts in his hometown of Dallas, Texas during his time at J.J. Pearce High School. In his free time, Eric enjoys hiking, cooking, and bingeing Netflix. Eric looks forward to teaching students the values of hard work, quality musicianship, and a love of music.
