PARENT VOLUNTEERS

our helping hands
The Dakota High School Band Program is supported by MANY parent volunteers to assist with the MANY band program activities.  We are very appreciative of our band parent volunteers and the support they provide to make our events run smoothly!

Band Parent Volunteer Board
2022 - 2023

Our Band Parent Volunteer Board assists with the planning and coordination of band events and activities all year long to provide support to Mr. Makarewicz and the Band Department Staff.

Parent Volunteer Roles

There are manys ways our band parent volunteers help throughout the year. We enourage parents to assist in one or more events to not only support our band program but to also learn more about our Bands, see them perform up close and to connect with other parents.

All Parent Volunteer should have a current Chippewa Valley Schools Volunteer CRC Form on file with the school.  ​This form will need to be completed every school year.
Uniform Volunteers
The Uniform Committee coordinates the uniforms. Parent volunteers are needed before/after all home football games, before/after all competitions, on parade days and on concert days.
  • Concert Band Events
    • Assist with uniform for Concerts
    • Assist with uniforms for Festival
    • Assist with end of season concert uniform cleaning
  • Marching Band Events
    • Assist with uniform sizing for Marching Band and Concert Band uniforms
    • Assist with uniform accessory orders and delivery
    • Assist with spirit-wear orders and delivery
    • Assist with Marching Band uniforms before/after home football games
    • Assist with Marching Band uniforms before/after competition performances
    • Assist with Marching Band uniforms before/after the Thanksgiving Day Parade
    • Assist with Marching Band picture days
    • Assist with end of season uniform cleaning

Hospitality Volunteers
The Hospitality Committee takes care of the band members, band staff and visiting guests for all band events. This includes coordinating snacks and drinks on game days, snacks and meals on competition days, meals or concessions for visiting bands and chaperoning at off-site events.
  • Marching Band
    • Set up/take down bleacher cushions
    • Pass out water and snacks in the stands during home football games
    • Assist with dinner prior to select home football games
    • Assist with lunch/dinner on Marching Band competition days
    • Chaperone on buses and at competition stadiums, at parades and at festivals
    • Assist with planning and coordination of Marching Band Banquet
  • Concert Bands
    • Assist with concession tables during the festival(s) held at Dakota High School
    • Assist with end of year Band Banquet
Equipment & Transportation Volunteers
The Equipment and Transportation Committee coordinates getting all large instruments, equipment and props to and from each competition.  Many parent volunteers are need to get equipment and props on and off of the field in the allotted time at every competition location. 
  • Assist with the creation of props as needed
  • Load/unload equipment at Dakota HS on competition days
  • Drive equipment trailers to/from competitions and festivals
  • Load/unload equipment at competition stadiums on competition days
  • Help setup on/off the field for Marching Band competition performances at competition stadiums
  • Move equipment to/from field for halftime performance at home football games

Fundraising Volunteers
The Fundraising Committee plans and coordinates all fundraisers and our sponsorship program.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of fundraisers
  • Assist with distribution of fundraiser orders
  • Assist with contacting potential donators and sponsors
  • Assist with coordination of sponsorship benefits

Marching Band Camp Chaperones
Chaperones are needed to attend the week at our off-site band camp 
  • Participate in the Band Camp planning meeting
  • Attend the five-day band camp and stay overnight in a dorm room at the camp
  • Help coordinate day-to-day activities and meals during camp
